Adding photo/image to the post

How can I add my images/photos in my posts here?

You can add your images/photos in two ways in the forums here. In either case, it is recommended to keep your image width below 640 pixels and smaller image size to make sure that it loads faster.

Here is the detailed explanation for both the processes.

  1. From other servers

    This option is quite straight-forward and most people might find it convenient if you are having your own blog/site where you use the same photos.

    The image below shows how it can be done (click on the image to view it in larger size).

    The steps in this process are -
    1. Copy the correct URL of the image.
    2. Click on [image=] button shown at the top of the editor window.
    3. Add width of the image after"=" sign as shown below. You don't need to add "px" after width. Please keep width below 640 pixels to ensure that it is shown properly in the forum.

      You can skip width and only [image]URL[/image] tag as well to show image in its original size, but image will be cropped if it exceeds width of the forum container.
    4. Add image URL you copied in the first step between [image=] or [image] tag.

      Code: Select all
      [image=WIDTH]Your Image URL here[/image]

      [image=560]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8264/8694887213_ec53212be6.jpg[/image]

      Or use this -

      Code: Select all
      [image]Your Image URL here[/image]

      [image]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8264/8694887213_ec53212be6.jpg[/image]

    That's it! You can use preview button to view your post with image and adjust width and placement of the image as desired!

  2. Uploading & using images from FoodieMagic.com

    Alternatively, you can upload photos on FoodieMagic.com and add them to your posts.

    The steps in this process are -
    1. Select image/photo from your computer, and make sure that the image is below 256 KB in size and lesser than 1200x1000 in dimension.

      Image having width or height more than 640 pixels will be displayed as a thumbnail having width 560 pixels with a link to original bigger image.
    2. Click on "Upload Attachment" tab that is shown below the buttons of post editor.
    3. Click on "Browse" button to select your image, and add title of the photo/image in the "File comment" field.

      The image below shows how it can be done (click on the image to view it in larger size).

    4. Click on "Add the file" button to upload this file on FoodieMagic.com.
    5. Once file is uploaded, you will see two buttons "Place inline" and "Delete file" below the name of the uploaded image file.

      The image below shows how it can be done (click on the image to view it in larger size).

    6. Put your cursor where you want image to appear in your post and click on the "Place inline" button to put the required code in your post.

      You can move this code anywhere in your post to adjust placement of your uploaded image. You cannot

      Code: Select all
      [attachment=0]jumping-noodle-soup.jpg[/attachment]

    7. Please note that you can upload maximum of 5 such images per post.

      That's it! You can use preview button to view your post with image and adjust placement of the image as desired!

So in a nutshell, if you need more images in your post and if you need more control over their displayed width, you should use images from remote server. Otherwise, for fewer images with standard thumbnail width you should use images uploaded on FoodieMagic.com.

It's quite easy to use images in the forums using either of these methods, you may need these guidelines only for the first time. Once you have done it once, you can do it easily later without reading these guidelines.
