If you love spicy & fiery food, you'd love this starter. This i tasty and relatively easy to prepare, but amount of pepper makes it very hot & spicy, so you might want to consume it in moderation!
So here is the recipe!
Ingredients:
200 gms chopped mushroom
Capsicum - 1 cut lengthwise
Big Onion - 1 cut lengthwise
Whole Pepper - 1 tbsp
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Red Chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
To Temper:
Oil - 1 tbsp
Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves - a small sprig
Red Chili - 1 whole
Chopped Coriander Leaves - 1.5 tbsp finely chopped for garnishing!
Lemon Juice - 1 to 2 tsp
Procedure:
Dry roast whole pepper for few mins or till nice aroma comes. Powder it coarsely, not very fine and keep it aside.
Heat some oil in a pan, when it is hot - put whole red chili and add Fennel Seeds in it. When they begin to splutter, wait for few mins and then add curry leaves. Then add onion,ginger garlic paste and saute till golden brown.Add capsicum and saute for few mins until it shrinks a bit.
Add mushrooms after some time and saute well. It will start leaving water, then add pepper powder,coriander,red chili and garam masala powders, salt and mix well.
Cook in low medium flame for 5-7mins till mushrooms turn soft and the masalas come together. Note that mushrooms will shrink significantly, but key is to ensure that they remain soft and well cooked.
Add lemon juice, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and your 'Spicy Mushroom Pepper Fry' is ready to eat. Serve hot and enjoy it with people you love! It will certainly spice up your meal!
